11/11/2009 – LSC publishes generic ‘Improving your Quality’ guide

The Legal Services Commission (LSC) has launched the latest of its 'Improving your Quality' guides aimed at providing guidance to practitioners on common quality issues.

The guides are based on comments from peer reviewers about what they consider to be good practice and are aimed at improving the quality standard of legal aid work. Peer reviewers are independent legal practitioners who have been chosen to carry out reviews as part of a process operated by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) and the Provider Assurance team at the LSC.

The Commission has previously published eight guides covering specific areas of law including crime, debt, employment, family, housing, immigration, mental health and welfare benefits. The latest generic guide has been produced with a focus on the areas of law where there isn't a category specific guide.

Welcoming the publication of the guide Avrom Sherr, director of IALS, said the guide will give -

'The profession access to peer review findings and help support those wishing to achieve the highest levels of quality of legal advice work.'

The LSC's press release New 'Improving your Quality' generic guide launched is available here.

The generic guide Improving your Quality and the category specific guides are all available on the LSC website.
