26/05/2010 – Grading system for charities
Research by New Philanthropy Capital and YouGov found that 40 per cent of 1,910 donors polled are interested in and would back the idea of a grading system for charities similar to ones that measure the performance of schools and hospitals.
The figure was contained in research conducted by the polling company YouGov and the think tank New Philanthropy Capital which advocates that charities should do more to measure their performance.
However, 68 per cent said they would transfer their donations away from a charity if it were found to be performing badly. Only 18 per cent of those polled said that they would feel more obliged to give to a charity they knew was performing well.
