19/10/2009 – Lasa helps host major London Advice conference
Lasa was one of the partners in a prestigious London Advice Conference held last week. Delegates from over 100 London advice agencies heard Karen Buck MP (who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Citizens Advice as well as the new APPG on Legal Aid), set out the issues and dangers facing the advice sector in London in these difficult times. Peter Lewis (Chief Executive of LVSC) spoke about how the wider Voluntary and Community Sector is reacting to the recession and how the advice sector can fit into this activity. A panel of funders spoke about the needs of advice agencies and how they as funders are responding to these needs, and there was a full programme of workshops. The other partners in the conference were Advice UK, Citizens Advice and the Law Centres Federation and the conference was hosted at Allen and Overy's offices.
