21/07/2010 – Lasa Announces the Appointment of their New Chief Executive
The board of trustees of Lasa are pleased to announce the appointment of Terry Stokes as Chief Executive, effective from September 1 2010.
Terry, whose appointment follows a rigorous selection at which a strong field of candidates was considered by a selection panel headed by Lasa Chair Liz Sewell, will be taking over the role from Andy Gregg, who has served as Chief Executive since 2004.
Terry brings to the post a wealth of experience of working with public and third sector organisations across the UK. He has worked for Lasa since 1998, originally as project manager of Rightsnet, now regarded as the UK's leading source of online welfare rights information. He was appointed Director of Services at Lasa in 2003.
Speaking of Terry's appointment Andy said: "Terry has a strong track record of delivery and building successful partnerships. He is exactly the right person to lead on delivering Lasa's mission of strengthening the support that third sector organisations and government bodies across the UK require in challenging times."
Liz Sewell commented: "Terry has vast experience and knowledge of both third sector organisations and government bodies and the board of trustees have every confidence he will lead Lasa's vision of helping many more of these organisations access the support they need so urgently."
Speaking of the challenges he faces in his new role, Terry said: "Having worked in government and third sector organisations for many years, I know how many of these bodies are unaware of the help and resources available to them. In times of uncertainty, it's vital that we recognise the significance and availability of support from our own sector.
I am excited about the challenge of helping more organisations across the UK access the support they need. I believe that it is only by working together that the third sector will survive the current funding cuts."
