19/08/2010 – 9 out of 10 clients report that Lasa’s welfare rights advice line increases likelihood of success

Lasa is delighted to announce the results of its 2010 survey for clients of its welfare rights helpline. This telephone advice line is available to all London based advice workers who need support with their clients’ welfare benefits’ problems.

As a result of using Lasa’s advice line, clients reported the following results:

  • 9 out of 10 (87%) said the individuals who they advise had a better chance of successful outcomes, following advice line support
  • In one year 261 advisers, from 30 London Boroughs, asked about 410 different benefit problems
  • 9 out of 10 advice workers (90%) said their knowledge and understanding of benefits and the tax credit system had improved
  • 9 out of 10 (96%) said they were more likely to be able to deal with a similar enquiry on their own in the future
  • 9 out of 10 (93%) said Lasa’s advice was clear, comprehensive, and accurate
  • More than two thirds (67%) of individuals’ financial situations were improved after the advice worker had used the advice line
