Circuit Rider Development Programme

From July 2009, we will be taking applications for Lasa's new Circuit Rider Learning Programme, which commences in September 2009. 

Who is the programme for? - In the first phase

  • Independent Circuit Riders
  • Circuit Riders who work in infrastructure organisations
  • Staff in large organisations who are either Accidental Techies or have a conduit role between the information services department and their own department.
  • Accidental Techies in small organisations
  • Generic Development workers with a technology interest
  • ICT professionals either volunteering or working in the sector

Our programme will help you:

  • Develop the essential consulting, planning and other non-technical skills you need to balance your existing profile
  • Provide an even better service
  • Become more marketable in the field of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) support for Voluntary and Community Organisations

The programme is based on the Circuit Rider Competency Guide (Improving Circuit Rider Service to Voluntary and Community Organisations - Tools to Build Circuit Rider Competencies)

What you will cover

The programme is organised into four modules that you can mix and match:

  • Characteristics of the VCOs, the environment in which they operate and how this affects their use of ICT
  • ICT systems, tools and resource use and support and their potential impact in small to medium sized VCOs
  • ICT Sustainability - Policy and procedure development, training, costing and funding
  • Consulting skills, ICT assessment, planning and project management

As a participant you will receive a combination of support that includes:

  • Tools to design your own Circuit Rider Personal Learning Plan
  • A professional advisor to support you as you follow your customised learning path
  • A private, personalised online learning environment with carefully selected resources to support your independent learning
