AIMS Training
Training courses available for AIMS users are shown below. In all cases
please contact the AIMS team for next available dates. All courses are
held at Happy Computers in Whitechapel, London.

Courses last one day (9.45 am to 4.30 pm) and cost £130 + V.A.T.
per person.

Please note courses fill up quickly so book early. To confirm your place
on a course you will need to send a confirmation email to aims@lasa.org.uk
giving the name of your organisation and name(s) of attendee(s).
For the AIMS IT training courses we operate a no transfer to other
course dates, no cancellation refund policy once the course has been booked.
PRE COURSE REQUIREMENTS
All courses:
A basic understanding of Windows movement and navigation techniques, e.g.
click and pick with a mouse, selecting via use of arrow keys, tabbing
and returning to select a feature.
Introductory:
No previous experience of using AIMS necessary.
Admin course:
Someone who has attended an AIMS Introductory level course or who has
a clear understanding of the relationship between the data capture needs
of their organisation and the AIMS software functionality.
Reports course:
Several months experience of using AIMS in their organisation with some
experience of having used the Report Module within AIMS.

Using AIMS Effectively - Action Manager and Mail Merge
INTRODUCTORY COURSE (Contact AIMS Team for

The course will cover:
- Adding Clients, Subjects and Work Done Details
- Navigating between different screens
- Ways of Searching for existing clients and their associated Subjects
- Capturing work details
- Recording Outcomes and other work related details
- Using the Standard Reports
Who is it for:
- Any worker needing to understand the basic concepts of data entry
for the LSC contract
- Anyone wanting to support other workers in their use of the AIMS
system
- Recommended prior to attendance on any advanced functionality training
course for workers who have not used the system before.
ADMINISTRATION COURSE (Contact AIMS Team for

The course will cover:
- Pre-configuration decision making choices
- Setting up Users and understanding security permissions
- Configuration: adding, editing and changing field and form design
- Creating classification schemes & amending Code lists
- Housekeeping procedures
Who is it for:
- Anyone needing to support other workers in their use of the AIMS system
- Anyone wanting to design the data capture to better match the agencies
information requirements
USING REPORTS COURSE (Contact AIMS Team

Aimed at users who have been using AIMS for several months and who have
a clear understanding of the data they collect and the kind of reports
that they need to produce. Please contact us if you would like to discuss
the course details further.
The course will cover:
- Reports Overview
- Running Standard Reports
- Using Runtime Conditions in a report
- Creating a new report using Report Layouts
- Designing a new Report Layout
- Exporting Reports to other applications
- Advanced reporting features
- Managing users permissions for reports
Who is it for:
- People who need further insights into how reports can be used
- People who are responsible for creating reports within their organisation
USING AIMS EFFECTIVELY - Mail Merge and Action
Manager (Contact AIMS Team for next available dates)
Aimed at people wanting to make more effective use of some of the more
complex features within the database. Learn how to utilise the power of
Microsoft WORD merge, in conjunction with the Action Manager and the Mail
Merge functions.
The course will cover:
- How to create and use Microsoft Word mail merge documents that can
be merged with your client, and subject details in AIMS
- Develop custom mailing lists in AIMS that can be used to communicate
with targeted groups of clients, producing en mass mailings, take up
campaigns, membership schemes and more
- Create automated reminders and "to do" lists for your most common
procedures
- Keep track of key dates and avoid missing important deadlines
- Create Action Manager templates that can be used to automate work
for all of your AIMS users
- Create custom task lists that can help you manage your caseload more
effectively
